Move your Google Keep notes to Tack Notes
Once you have your Google Keep export, moving to Tack Notes is one upload. Your notes come back on a board that looks and works like Keep, with the same colours, labels, pins and checklists. Here is how it works and exactly what comes across.

What you need
Just the .zip (or .tgz) file Google Takeout gave you. You don’t need to unzip it. If you don’t have it yet, follow our guide to exporting Google Keep first; it takes a couple of minutes plus a short wait for Google’s email.
Import step by step
- Create a free account at tacknotes.com. No card needed.
- Open “Import from Keep” at the bottom of the menu on the left.
- Drop in your Takeout file, or click to choose it. The upload starts straight away and shows its progress.
- Watch your board fill up. Tack Notes reads each note and adds it. You can leave the page; the import carries on without you.
- Check the summary. When it finishes you’ll see how many notes, lists, labels and images came across, and anything that needs a second look.

Trashed notes: they arrive in your Tack Notes trash, where notes are deleted for good after 7 days, just like in Keep. Restore any you want to keep.
From your phone
You can do the whole move on a phone. Download the file from Google’s email, open Tack Notes in your browser and choose the file from your downloads. Large archives upload in small parts, so a patchy connection won’t start you from scratch: if the upload stops, choose the same file again and it picks up where it left off.
Importing again
Tack Notes remembers what it has already imported. Upload the same archive twice, or a newer export later, and notes you already have are skipped, so nothing gets duplicated. That makes it easy to move gradually: keep using Keep for a while, then import again to catch up.
If Google split your export into several files, import each one. They can go in any order.
After the move
- Set your reminders again. Open the Reminders view in Keep, then add each one in Tack Notes with the bell icon.
- Share notes again with the people you shared them with in Keep. They’ll need a free Tack Notes account.
- Turn on notifications in Settings so reminders reach you when Tack Notes is closed.
- Add it to your home screen from your phone’s browser menu for one-tap access.
That’s it. Your notes are on a board that works the way you’re used to, and you can download all of them at any time from Settings.
