What feels the same
If you’ve used Keep, you already know Tack Notes. There’s a “Take a note” box at the top, pinned notes above the rest, labels in the menu, and the same row of buttons on every note for reminders, colour, images, archive and more. Keyboard users get familiar shortcuts: c for a new note, l for a new list, / to search.
Where Tack Notes goes further
- Your way out is built in. Download every note as one file from Settings, any time. No Takeout request, no waiting for an email.
- Import that keeps everything. Bring a whole Keep account across, and import again later without duplicates.
- Edits made offline are kept. If you lose signal while typing, your change is saved and sent as soon as you’re back online.
- An assistant for your notes. Pro, launching soon, will find notes when you describe them (“everything about the mortgage”) and create notes and reminders from a sentence.
Where Keep is still ahead
Keep has native phone apps on Android and iPhone, drawing and handwriting, voice notes, and location-based reminders. Tack Notes doesn’t have those yet. If you rely on them every day, you may want to wait, or run both for a while: import into Tack Notes now and import again later to pick up anything new.
Which should you use?
If Keep does everything you need and you’re happy with your notes living only in your Google account, there’s no rush to move. If you want the same simple board with a copy you control, a proper export, and AI features on the way, Tack Notes gives you that without making you start again. Moving takes one upload.
